Railbike FAQ
-
A railbike is a pedal-powered vehicle that is designed to allow you to ride and explore sections of track that are closed off to other traffic, enjoying the beauty of the Adirondacks at a more leisurely pace. Our railbikes are proudly manufactured right here in NY.
-
You can book your railbike adventure online at www.adirondackscenicrailbikes.com, or by calling Customer Service at 315-724-0700, or 1-800-819-2291.
-
The total ride is approximately one and a half to two hours long.
-
There is no minimum age requirement. Infants(Children under 2) would need to be in a front-mounted child carrier (such as the Baby Bjorn) worn by an adult. You must provide your own carrier. Children 2 years and older can ride in their own seats using the standard seatbelt. A Five-Point harness is available upon request.
-
Our weight limit is 275lbs per person, per seat.
-
Railbiking can be enjoyed by people of nearly any age. Riders should be fit enough to ride a standard bicycle. There are slight grades, both up and down, as well as level sections of tracks along the way. We recommend a leisurely pace so as to not overexert yourself, and also to give yourself time to take in and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Adirondacks.
-
Our bikes will run in both sunny and rainy weather. If the weather is potentially dangerous, such as a lightning storm, potential tornadoes, etc., then we will cancel the ride. This is up to the discretion of the Director of Railbike. In the event of a cancellation you will be able to reschedule your railbike adventure for another day.
